For the last several months I have been blogging about ditching harmful household chemicals and replacing them with non-toxic, enzyme-based cleaning products. But what if you could clean your home more effectively using only water? Hard to believe? Since switching away from Proctor and Gamble I have come to love my enzyme-based cleaners by Branch Basics.
When I first discovered e-cloth I was a bit skeptical. Really - cleaning my home with just an e-cloth and water? What struck me first about e-cloth was their sustainability. I thought about how many paper towels I have used over the last several years. If the e-cloth really performs as claimed I could save a lot of money at Costco no longer purchasing rolls of paper towels and reduce my garbage to the landfill.
The Power of Water
The tendency for water to grab and hold small particles is among the most powerful forces in nature. It's the force that forms every raindrop and snowflake – and it’s the all-natural “active ingredient” in every e-cloth product. Each e-cloth is designed to unlock this amazing power of water to perform specific cleaning tasks.
Run the general-purpose e-cloth under the water faucet and then wring it out. This “charges” the e-cloth by filling the microscopic voids between and within the cloth’s fibers with water. When you draw the cloth across a dirty surface, those water molecules attract and stick to particles of dirt, grease, grime, even bacteria, and mold, pulling the particles into the voids and trapping them there. Rinsing the e-cloth with warm or hot water, or running it through a machine wash cycle, releases the trapped particles and refreshes the cloth.
Durability
To fully unlock the cleaning power of water, e-cloth produces durable premium microfiber textiles with close attention to critical details: the purity of raw materials, the precise method to create water-attracting voids within the fibers, the ratio of nylon to polyester within the microfiber yarn, and the unique weave or knit pattern and density of the textile.
Seeing is Believing
E-cloth commissioned Silliker Group to conduct tests to prove their effectiveness of for removing bacteria and mold. The Silliker Group is one of the leading internationally accredited food testing and consulting firms headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. According to Silliker, e-cloth cleaned better with just water. "The evaluation of bacteria transfer shows that when the same cloth is used again (after simply rinsing under warm tap water), e-cloth products remove bacteria, and the transfer of bacteria from the e-cloth to another surface is only 0.01%." SILLIKER GROUP
The e-cloth with water removes the bacteria and mold from surfaces and locks it away inside the cloth's fibers, where it stays until the cloth is rinsed. Compare that to popular household chemical cleaners on the market that work by leaving a liquid chemical film on surfaces that must stay in place to be effective.
