In the last few months I decided to make a complete swap from my old skincare and cosmetic products to Beautycounter, a cleaner line of skincare and cosmetics. I first learned about Beautycounter from my youngest daughter who suffers from Celiac Disease. After her diagnosis she had to completely rethink her skincare regimen and what cosmetics she could use -- products that did not adversely react with her skin.
At this point, I was beginning to run out of my usual skincare normally purchased at the high end department stores. At the urging of my daughter, I decided to look for a different skincare line with more emphasis on a cleaner product line. It wasn’t that I was unhappy with my current regimen but sometimes you just need to make a change? I started tuning into more of the endless ads on TV promising skincare miracles!. As I looked at dozens of different skincare and cosmetic products, I became more and more overwhelmed. Too many choices. The issue of cleaner skincare never really entered my mind until my daughter’s diagnosis. After all, I was more concerned with how great a particular skincare product would make me look.
I became sold on Beautycounter after hearing that they voluntarily removed over 1500 toxic ingredients from their products. Did you know that the beauty industry has gone unchecked for over 60+ years with what goes their products? Even worse, the FDA has no authority to recall a skincare or cosmetic product even if there are known issues or consumer complaints with a particular product. Not since 1935 has the FDA banned any ingredients from a cosmetic product.
I was even more impressed when I found out that Beautycounter is part of a legislative movement for better skin care for all. An article on Fastcompany.com dated March 29, 2019, talks about Beautycounter and the landmark bill authored in part by their lobbying efforts that, if passed, would ban all cosmetics with toxic ingredients. That would mean changes for the entire cosmetic and skincare industry. Check out this amazing Fast Company article for more about current efforts Beautycounter is working towards.

My journey to cleaner beauty started by swapping my old skincare regimen to the Beautycounter Adaptive Countermatch skincare regimen. I also added their Brightening Skin Oil to my regimen. I was amazed at how quickly the Beautycounter Brightening Skin Oil absorbs into my skin with no residue. I use this oil after I cleanse my face and before I add moisturizer. Sometimes I just wear the Brightening Oil and a little powdered bronzer. I have definitely noticed the discoloration starting to fade away. Love, love, love this stuff!

I have received so many compliments since switching to Beautycounter. The best part of this whole clean swap is that I definitely do not look my age. I totally embrace my life as I enter my early 60's. My goal with any of my blog posts concerning skincare and beauty is to make sure that I emphasize all the positive things about growing older. After all, I have earned all these wrinkles and gray hair (just not ready to go gray yet). My #1 goal as I begin this next chapter in my life is to take the best care of myself emotionally, spiritually and physically -- and that includes looking my best at any age!
One more note - I also love the fact that Beautycounter is a Certified B Corporation. Come join me and make the clean swap!
