Meet Kat Nouri, CEO, and Founder of Stash. Kat grew up with a mother who earned a Ph.D. in nutrition and a father with a background in agriculture. Growing up Kat recalls her mother continually reading the labels of packaged food and she would continually say, “…what you cook and store your food in should be just as important as what you eat. She never let us wrap our food in foil or plastic…”. This inspired Kat to become a huge advocate in the plastic-free movement, always looking for a better way to store food. In 2005, Kat started Modern-Twist, a company focused on using food-grade silicone for a variety of uses. “And that’s when Stasher was born.”
Today Stasher is a leader in the plastic-free moment. “We’re out to make big changes by giving people beautifully-designed alternatives to single-use plastics that are more functional, save consumers money, and give everyone the ability to feel good about positive choices that benefit future generations.”
Stasher is a Certified B Corporation and 1% for the Planet business partner. Stasher also supports non-profits involved with environmental issues.
Here is how I use my Stasher bags:
Cooking in a Water Bath: I will place a piece of seasoned steak into a 1-gallon Stasher bag, then once my Anova Sous Vide Precision Cooker reaches 130 degrees, I drop the meat sealed in the Stasher bag into the water preset to 130 degrees. The meat will cook anywhere from 2-6 hours. The meat never goes above the 130 degrees, so there is no worry about overcooking it. I have also used the Stasher bags in my Sous Vide cooker to make halibut, pork loin and even balsamic fig jam.

Storing Leftovers and personal care products:
I use the Stasher bags to store leftovers, prepared vegetables, fruits and other snacks. These silicone bags are also great for picnics. Simply pack your food in one of several sizes offered, then drop them into the ice chest and even if the ice melts, the foods stored in the Stasher bag will still be fresh, dry and ready to eat. I love that the seal is airtight and keeps foods fresher longer.
Use Stasher bags for air travel:
I use the Stasher bag to carry small items on the plane when I travel. I also use the Stasher snack size to carry my lipstick and liner in my purse. I even use the Stasher snack size bag to carry my hearing aid batteries.
The smallest Stasher bag makes a great storage bag for my fresh ginger.

The Stasher bag is so easy to clean.
It fits nicely over the top or bottom racks in my dishwasher. They are so sturdy they can hold up in the dishwasher to a steam wash and heated dry. When I remove them from the dishwasher, I simply hang them my bamboo drying rack just to make sure there is no residual moisture before I put them away in the drawer.
My husband was very surprised when he came home from work to see that I had removed all of the Ziploc bags and aluminum foil from my kitchen drawer and replaced them with Stasher bags. The Stasher bags are now with other great plastic-free products, such as beeswax wrappers, lunch skins, and reusable mesh produce bags. I also love the variety of colors Stasher bags come in.
